After many years of recording and performing with an endless string of immense musical talents, London-based composer and producer Sam Beste embarked on his debut solo adventures as The Vernon Spring in 2021 releasing the critically acclaimed album 'A Plane Over Woods'. Following this, Sam released his most audacious and ambitious project yet: a response album to Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On', released in 2022 to mark its 50th anniversary year.
Along with performing as part of alt-soul trio Hejira, Sam’s work as a Brit Award and Mercury Music Prize nominated producer, performer and composer covers a multitude of styles and roles. He has performed as part of Kano’s live band and co-produced a number of recordings on Joy Crookes’ UK Top 5 debut album ‘Skin’. A consistent collaborator with Gabriels, Sam co-wrote and co-produced four tracks on the band’s debut album ‘Angels & Queens’ alongside performing in the band. Sam has recently been working with MERCY, Anna B Savage, Fran Lobo, Loa and Dot Never.
Frequently approached to write and record bespoke music for film and TV, Sam is now releasing some of this catalogue under the artist name Sam Beste. Debut single ‘Father, On My Sholder' was released following its apearance in a recent Apple video entitled ‘Study With Me feat. Storm Reid’.
