At just 25 years old, multi-instrumentalist and composer Douglas J Frost is already making significant waves in the music industry. Growing up in a creative household, he went on to study Jazz at Leeds Conservatoire specialising in Drum Performance and Composition. With a diverse range of musical influences, Douglas has written a multitude of compositions spanning genre including chamber music, film scores, jazz etudes and soundscapes.
Known for his eccentric melodies and intricate compositions, in 2020 Douglas co-founded the art rock band English Teacher, for which he is one of the principal songwriters. Douglas and the band quickly rose to prominence after signing to Island Records in 2022. Their debut album This Could Be Texas was released in April 2024. In the past year, English Teacher's meteoric rise is evident in their cover feature on NME, as well as the recognition of their single 'Nearly Daffodils' as one of the top 10 songs of 2023 by Time Magazine. The band have embarked on multiple sold out tours and played Glastonbury, as well as garnering praise from BBC Radio 6, The Guardian, The Fader, Pitchfork, The Times, and music critic Anthony Fantano. Notable placements include their track 'The World’s Biggest Paving Slab’ in EA SPORTS FC24 (fka FIFA) and 'A55' in Netflix's hit series, Lockwood & Co.
This debut album marks another milestone in Douglas's burgeoning career, solidifying his position as one of the most promising talents in the industry.
