Nate Martinez has spent over 20 years working with sound in various roles— as a session and touring musician, composer, producer, engineer, sound designer, mixer, consultant, teacher and public speaker. As a producer and composer he has worked across a range of genres from indie rock and folk, to electronic, experimental and ambient; and as a multi-instrumentalist he has performed and recorded with Bob Weir, Alexi Murdoch, The National, American composer Michael Gordon, Pela (a band he co-founded in 2005) and Thieving Irons (a project he founded in 2010). Martinez has a long track record licensing music for film and television including: HBO, Showtime, USA Network, AMC, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS and MTV. His strength lies in his ability to create singular compositions that accentuate an emotional connection, sometimes meditative, other times dynamic, most often rooted in escapism. For the past decade Martinez has been especially active promoting sound as a tool for mindfulness and has also developed functional music compositions and sound design for a variety of meditation apps and brands.
