Galya Bisengalieva is a Kazakh-British composer, producer and violinist known for her distinctive blend of classical precision, folk heritage and experimental electronic sound design. Having grown up in a family of classical and folk musicians in Almaty before moving to the UK on scholarship, she has built a critically regarded career redefining the expressive possibilities of the violin. Alongside her work leading the London Contemporary Orchestra, she has collaborated widely across contemporary classical, electronic, pop and film worlds, bringing a unique sonic identity to every project she touches.
Her solo releases - including her acclaimed albums Aralkum and Polygon - showcase her ability to create immersive, atmospheric and emotionally resonant sound worlds. These works explore themes of landscape, memory, identity and environmental change, layering processed strings, drones, electro-acoustic textures and field-influenced sonics to build striking cinematic narrative arcs. Her writing is rooted in both conceptual depth and strong melodic intuition, making her a compelling choice for bespoke scoring and composition.
Galya’s practice is highly adaptable: equally comfortable crafting intimate, textural pieces as she is building bold, large-scale soundscapes. Her music has been performed internationally and has found a natural home across contemporary performance, film, fashion and art contexts. She brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach to bespoke commissions, with an ability to translate visual, thematic or brand-led concepts into distinctive and emotionally powerful musical language.
